Sergei Lavrov: â€œRussia proposed to hold a conference on Syria in the informal meeting of the UN Security Councilâ€ - <font color=red>PHOTO</font>

According to him, Russia proposed to hold a conference on Syria in the informal meeting of the UN Security Council: â€œThe countries affecting the forces in Syria can participate in this conference. In our opinion, these countries are permanent members of the UN Security Council, Syriaâ€™s neighbors â€“ Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Arab League. Saudi Arabia, the UN and the European Union must also participate in the conference. We want the conference to be held in opened conditions. The sides must express their opinionsâ€.

Lavrov said that the purpose of holding the conference was related to the rapid settlement of the Syria conflict: â€œWe will research the reasons of non-implementation of Annan plan that regulates the settlement of conflict in Syria. We want to hold this conference in a short timeâ€.
