Baku-APA. The Belarusian KGB arrested the head coach of the national track and field team Anatoly Baduev, local media reported Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
According to the website of one of the country’s leading sports publications, Pressball, Baduev is charged with two criminal acts - extortion of bribes and improper use of sponsorship funds, raised by Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Vladimir Potupchik.
In connection with the detention of Baduev, Belarus Sport Ministry will urgently appoint an acting head coach of the national team to participate in the London Olympics with less than two months to go, Pressball reported.
Belarus is aiming for seven medals at the Olympics.
