Baku-APA. A Ukrainian appeals court on Wednesday upheld a ruling by a lower court that sentences former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yury Lutsenko to four years in prison plus confiscation of property for his abuse of embezzlement of budgetary funds and forgery, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Lutsenko’s lawyers said they will submit a cassation against the ruling by the Kiev Court of Appeals.

Lutsenko was arrested on December 2010 for misusing budget funds for the celebration of Police Day, as well as giving gifts and privileges to his driver.

Kiev Pechersk court ruled on February 2012 that Lutsenko caused a loss of 125,000 U.S. dollar to state and that he should repay the losses.

Lutsenko served as a minister in the government of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from 2007 to 2010.
