Putin calls for diplomatic settlement of Iran’s nuclear issue

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Iran’s nuclear standoff should be resolved through diplomatic and political means and urged the Russian foreign ministry to do its utmost to this effect, IRNA reports. According to the decree issued by the Russian president, he urged the Russian foreign ministry to do its best to resolve Iran’s nuclear standoff through political and diplomatic means. Iran’s nuclear talks should be pursued based on step by step plan offered by Russia, he said. Next round of talks between Iran and G5+1 is to be held in Baghdad on May 23.
