On August 1, oil prices in world energy markets fell sharply, APA-Economics reports.
The price of a barrel of WTI oil on the Nymex exchange fell by $1.93, or 2.79%, to $67.33.
On the ICE exchange, the price of Brent oil fell by $2.03, or 2.83%, to $69.67.
Analysts point to the general recession observed in the US and European stock markets, concerns about the economic slowdown and weakening expectations for global demand as the reasons for the price decline.
