Parliament’s Standing Commission on Security and Defense Issues holds meeting

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev–APA. The Parliament’s Standing Commission on Security and Defense Issues has held a meeting on Friday. The Commission discussed ratification of the “CIS Concept for Cooperation in Combating Terrorism and other Violent Methods of Extremism” with the agreed special opinion on it, Press-Service of the Parliament told APA. Chairman of the Commission Ziyafat Asgarov said Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine joined the Concept with the special opinion. “According to the opinion, new article on separatism, one of the most violent appearances of extremism, which the countries signed the opinion suffered from, was added to the Concept’s third paragraph. The article considers prevention of all form of separatism. Azerbaijan has its special opinion on this document signed on October 5, 2007 in Dushanba, Tajikistan. According to this opinion, Azerbaijan joins the cooperation program excluding the points on the harmonization and unification of the national legislations”. The document was recommended to the Parliament after the discussions.
