Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev -APA. Milli Majlis, Azerbaijani Parliament discussed the annexes and amendments to the Electoral Code on Friday. Chairman of the Parliament’s Standing Commission on Legal Policy and State-Building Ali Huseynov reported on the document. He said proposed amendments would enable to prevent illegal interference in the election process completely. “According to the amendments, the Central Election Commission registers exit-poll organizations. The article on the putting of voting ballots in envelops is dropped from the document and if voters can not find their names in the voter lists, they will not appeal to the court, and poll station will solve the issue. Addresses of all voters are showed in the voting lists accurately. State-run broadcasting companies are not involved in the campaign process and this issue is handed over to the Public Television. The election campaign on other mass media is regulated by the advertising law. Posting of campaign materials on the historic and administrative buildings is banned. The word “Individual finance unit” is dropped from the document. It also stated about the establishment of funds for presidential candidates – 10 million AZN maximum and for the parliamentary candidates – 500 thousand AZN. Deposit should be amounted to three per cent of the funds”. Ali Huseynov said his commission proposed to reduce campaign term from 120 days to 60. He said in international experience this term was between 45-90 days. Lawmakers made some remarks on the proposals to the document. The discussions will be continued on June 2.
