Baku. Vahab Rzayev - APA-Economics. US stocks erased early losses to end mostly higher on Monday ahead of a flurry of earnings and economic reports that could determine whether the bets investors made in the past month on a stabilising economy will pay off.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 25.57, or 0.3 per cent, to 8,057.81.
Broader stock indicators advanced. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 2.17, or 0.3 per cent, to 858.73, and the Nasdaq composite index rose 0.77, or 0.1 per cent, to 1,653.31.
European shares closed higher on Thursday, buoyed by positive corporate and economic news from the US, including an upbeat statement from Wells Fargo, which lifted banks.
The London’s FTSE 100 index of leading shares added 58.19 points, or 1.48 per cent, to 3,983.71 points.
Germany’s DAX rose 133.2 points, or 3.06 per cent, to 4,491.12.
France’s CAC 40 gained 53.12 points, or 1.82 per cent, to 2,974.18.
The Nikkei-225 index fell 39.68 points, or 0.44 per cent, to 8,924.43.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index closed up 426.55 points, or 2.95 per cent, at 14,901.41.
