Oil prices go beyond $52

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. Oil prices rose sharply on Thursday, April 09, as traders focused on rising stock market and surprising news from retailers suggesting customers were spending more.
Light, sweet crude for May delivery rose nearly 6%, or USD 2.86 to settle at USD 52.24 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).
Gasoline for May delivery rose 4.14 cents to settle at USD 1.4810 a gallon. Heating oil gained just over 3 cents to settle at USD 1.4288 a gallon.
In London, Brent prices jumped USD 2.47 to settle at USD 54.06 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.
