Russia removes ban on poultry imports from Hungary, imposed after bird flu outbreak

"Taking into account improvement of epizootic situation with bird flu in Hungary and the measures that were taken by the national veterinary service to prevent the spread of the disease, temporary restrictions on supplies of all types of poultry products from Hungary to Russia are removed from July 24, 2015,"- the regulator said.

Rosselkhoznadzor banned poultry imports from Hungary on March 4, 2015, after an outbreak of high-pathogen bird flu was registered on poultry farms in Bekes county.

The restriction was not related to the embargo on food imports from the EU Russia imposed earlier and its removal does not lift the ban on imports of all types of meat from the EU that was imposed until August 7, 2016.

On July 24, the regulator also lifted the ban on supplies of fodder, feed supplements for poultry and second hand equipment from Hungary.
