Baku – APA. A number of people were killed and wounded in a blast that rocked central Kabul during the morning rush hour on Tuesday, President Ashraf Ghani said, an attack that apparently targeted the offices of Afghanistan’s main security agency.
At least 20 people have died, officials confirmed to local media agencies. The health ministry said nearly 200 people have been wounded.
TOLO news said on Twitter the blast was caused by a vehicle laden with explosives being detonated by a Talibani suicide bomber outside the Afghan secret service agency in Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area in central Kabul, and that a gun battle was underway in the area.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid says the militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.
