North Korea on Wednesday said it will be re-opening a long-closed border hotline with South Korea, two days after leader Kim Jong Un extended a rare overture to Seoul, APA reported citing Reuters.
The announcement came a day after Seoul proposed high-level inter-Korean talks on Jan 9 to discuss North Korea's possible participation in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and ways to improve ties.
Seoul's proposal followed Kim's New Year's address, in which he said he was “open to dialogue” with Seoul, and for North Korean athletes to possibly take part in next month's Winter Games.
