Baku-APA. India has recalled its troops sent to Thailand for a joint combat exercise after the military coup there, said government officials Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"Our troops, currently in Thailand for Maitree exercise, have been advised to return to India," said an external affairs ministry (MEA) spokesperson.
An Indian contingent of 45 soldiers had landed in Bangkok in the early hours of Wednesday for the joint exercise.
"India is concerned with the recent developments in Thailand. We are monitoring the evolving situation closely. As a friendly neighbor, with civilizational affinities, we hope for an urgent political resolution and restoration of normalcy based on the principles of democracy, the will of the people and the rule of law in Thailand," said the spokesperson.
