Foreign Minister: Indonesia refuses to shut down Gulen-linked schools

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that Indonesia has always respected other countries’ laws and sovereignty. “Therefore, we expect the similar steps with regard to Indonesia”, she noted.

 

Marsudi said that the government rejected Ankara’s request to close 9 schools through diplomatic channels. “Consultations were held with the Ministry of Education and no violation of Indonesia’s laws by those schools was recorded”, she added.

 

On July 15, FETO terrorist organization attempted a coup in Turkey which ended up with death and injuring of hundreds of people. After that, Turkey asked several countries to shut down the schools linked to Fetullah Gulen, head of the terrorist organization.
