Egypt's Deputy Foreign Minister: “We are trying to be guarantor of peace and security in the region, but our opportunities are restricted”

Basel. Rufat Ahmadzade – APA. “Egypt is trying to be guarantor of peace and security in the region, but its opportunities are restricted”, Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hesham Badr said at the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Basel, APA correspondent reports from Switzerland.

 

He noted that the situation has become aggravated in Libya again and the threat is spreading to the regions.

 

Appraising existence of situation of civil war in Somali about past 20 years as a real threat for stability of Africa, Badr stressed that his country face serious threats: “Extension of terrorist groups in Middle East and Africa has arisen from good exchange of communication and financial and operative experience among them. Egypt is trying to be guarantor of peace and security in the region, but its opportunities are restricted. Regretfully, our international partners do not support us sufficiently. We apply to our partners to review the prohibition on sale of weapon to Egypt.  Because there are serious and real threats for security of our country”.

 

He added that one of the threats for region is Israel-Palestine conflict. The deputy minister said that building of independent Palestine state may prevent growth of terrorist organizations and other threats in the region: “Therefore, we call on all OSCE countries to recognize Palestine as an independent state”.
