“We had previously emphasized that if a war against Iran were to occur, it would take on a regional character,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei told journalists, APA reports.
He said that Iran had “responsibly warned” about this issue and recalled the remarks of Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei that “the conflict would turn into a regional war.”
“This is because the region is being used for military attacks. The project of destabilizing the region belongs to Israel, and unfortunately, the United States has also been drawn into this project.
The targets struck by our armed forces are locations where U.S. military bases are situated — in other words, military targets,” he said.
According to Baghaei, in the current uncertain and chaotic situation, Israel will seek opportunities to expand the scope of the war and provoke incidents in regional countries so that the conflict shifts to a regional level.
Baghaei expressed hope that countries in the region would not allow this to happen.
