The St. Nicholas Church of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Tehran has been robbed, RBC reports, citing the Russian Embassy in Iran.
“We would never have believed that there would be people in Iran who would treat Christian holy sites in such a way and desecrate our church, which has been a guardian of faith in the one God for decades,” the embassy said in a statement.
According to the report, the robbed church is one of the oldest Orthodox churches in Iran and the only ROC church in the capital, Tehran.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
