Official Tehran: No inspections by IAEA inspectors at nuclear facilities are planned

No inspections by inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at Iran's nuclear facilities are planned, Tasnim reports.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei denied reports that Iran had invited IAEA inspectors to the country to conduct inspections at nuclear facilities.

According to him, under Article 8 of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States, negotiations on the nuclear issue will be held within 60 days.

“Of course, this requires the fulfillment of the preconditions for launching the negotiations stipulated in Article 13 of the memorandum,” Baghaei stressed.

It should be noted that under Article 8 of the document, Iran reaffirms that it will not acquire or develop nuclear weapons. The United States and Iran have agreed that the fate of enriched nuclear materials will be resolved under IAEA supervision through a mutually agreed mechanism.

The parties have also agreed to discuss enrichment activities and other issues related to Iran’s nuclear needs within the framework of a final agreement.
