Baku-APA. Turkey says it is gravely concerned over the latest nuclear test conducted by North Korea, a move which will likely further fuel concerns over regional stability, APA reports quoting Todays Zaman.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry cited news reports that the recent test is evidently stronger than two previous tests. This came after North Korea tested a long-range missile, which further deepened concerns, the statement read.
This development is a clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1718, 1874 and 2087, Ankara said.
As a country that actively supports efforts against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, Turkey regards this test as a threat to efforts towards international peace and security, and strongly condemns it, the statement noted, underlining that Ankara expects North Korea to abide by its international obligations.
