7 killed in attack at security forces camp in NW Pakistan

Baku-APA. At least one security personnel and six militants were killed while eight others sustained injuries on Saturday morning as unknown militants attacked the security forces camp in Pakistan's northwestern district of Lakki Marwat, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Local Urdu TV Channels quoting official sources as saying that an unknown number of militants stormed the security forces camp in the Serai Naurang area of Lakki Marwat, a district in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Militants used automatic guns and heavy ammunition including rockets and hand grenades in the attack.

The security personnel responded the attack with full force retaliation and stopped the militants to enter the restricted area.

In the cross-firing at least one security personnel was killed and eight others injured while six attackers also became the victim of forces' firing.

The skirmish that started at 4:00 a.m. local time continued for two hours before the militants fled the area, leaving the bodies of the dead and heavy weapons behind.

All the injured people were shifted to the army hospital in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, some rockets fired by the militants also fell in the nearby residential colony but there was no report about any loss from the area.

The security forces cordoned off the area and initiated a large- scale search operation.

No militant group of organization has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
