Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he warned US President Donald Trump of his intention to strike Beirut. He said this would happen if Hezbollah continued to attack Israeli territory, APA reports.
"I spoke with President Trump this evening and told him that if Hezbollah does not stop attacking our cities and citizens, Israel will attack Beirut. Our position remains unchanged," Netanyahu said, according to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office.
He added that Israeli troop operations in southern Lebanon, where the initial stated plans called for creating a buffer zone south of the Litani River, are continuing. "At the same time, the IDF will continue to operate in accordance with the plan in southern Lebanon," the prime minister stated.
