Lebanon must be demilitarized and Hezbollah disarmed in order to save the country, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with CNBC, APA reports.
“If we want to save Lebanon and achieve Lebanon-Israel peace — and I do want that — we must disarm Hezbollah and demilitarize Lebanon,” the prime minister stressed.
He noted that he shares the same position on the issue with U.S. President Donald Trump.
“This is a goal that Trump and I share,” Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu stated that both Hezbollah and Hamas have set Israel as their target.
“We cannot allow these genocidal 'terrorists' to take over Lebanon and use that country against Israel,” he said.
The Israeli prime minister also stated that Israel targets only 'terrorists' in Lebanon.
