Kılıçdaroğlu says CHP congress will be held within legal framework

Türkiye's Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kamal Kılıçdaroğlu has responded to CHP parliamentary group leader Özgür Özel’s call for a congress, NTV reports.

Kılıçdaroğlu told journalists today that the CHP congress will be held.

“We will hold the congress. Can there be a party without a congress? This must be done within the legal framework,” he noted.

According to the CHP chairman, the congress will take place after the measures related to the latest decision concerning the party are lifted.

Kamal Kılıçdaroğlu also pointed out that he has not met with Özgür Özel.

It should be noted that, according to the decision of the Ankara Court, the results of the 38th CHP congress held on November 4-5, 2023, were annulled.

According to the ruling, party chairman Özgür Özel was removed from office.

At the same time, former CHP leader Kamal Kılıçdaroğlu was temporarily reinstated as chairman until the decision becomes final.
