The third round of talks between Lebanese and Israeli delegations held in Washington has concluded.

According to Lebanon’s LBCI television channel, citing sources at the U.S. Department of State, the parties discussed the terms for extending the ceasefire regime, which is set to expire on May 18.

The report said mechanisms for resolving border related issues were also discussed during the meeting. Diplomats and military experts took part in the negotiations. No statements were made to the press following the talks.

According to Asharq Al Awsat newspaper, the Lebanese government is seeking to reach a security agreement with Israel. However, Beirut is not yet ready to normalize relations with Israel or sign a peace treaty.

Following the first round of meetings held with the support of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, a ceasefire regime came into force in Lebanon on April 17. After the second round of talks on April 23, the ceasefire was extended for another three weeks.
