Israel’s military says it has killed six armed members of the Hezbollah movement during an operation in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said troops encountered militants in the town of Bint Jbeil, where an exchange of fire broke out. According to the military, two fighters were killed in the initial clash.
The IDF added that the remaining militants retreated into a building, which was later targeted in an air strike. The strike killed four more people, the statement said.
Israel’s military said no soldiers were killed or injured during the operation.
There has been no immediate comment from Hezbollah.
