Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched missile and drone attacks against the headquarters of the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and a U.S. military air base in the region in response to U.S. strikes on an Iranian military facility on Qeshm Island.
According to Iran's ISNA news agency, the attacks were carried out after what Tehran described as a U.S. act of aggression targeting an IRGC communications tower in southern Qeshm Island.
"As another act of aggression, the United States conducted an airstrike on an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps communications tower south of Qeshm Island. In response to this aggression, their air base and helicopter facility in a regional country, as well as the headquarters of the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, were targeted by missiles and drones of the IRGC Aerospace Force," the statement said.
The claims have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate comment from U.S. officials regarding the reported attacks.
