Iranian, Russian FMs hold phone talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), alongside several regional and bilateral issues, WANA News Agency reports.

During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister outlined the details of the memorandum, emphasizing the United States’ responsibility regarding the proper implementation of its clauses. Araghchi also stressed the critical necessity of a complete halt to the Israeli regime’s aggression against Lebanon.

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov welcomed the finalization of the MoU text, affirming Moscow’s full support for the implementation of its provisions.

Highlighting the need for the international community and the United Nations Security Council to back the agreement, both diplomats underscored the importance of continuous diplomatic cooperation among regional countries to secure and stabilize peace.

The two ministers concluded the call by exchanging views on key aspects of bilateral relations, agreeing to maintain close follow-ups on the matters raised during their discussion.
