“A good meeting was held in Türkiye between Iran and high-level FIFA officials," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said while commenting on claims circulated regarding the US allegedly refusing visas to some players of Iran’s national team, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.
According to him, FIFA has guaranteed that all rules will be observed by the host country.
“Iran has been given guarantees that all rules will be implemented by the host country,” Baghaei said.
He noted that decisions regarding the participation of Iran’s national team in the FIFA World Cup were made by Iran’s Ministry of Sports and the Iranian Football Federation based on various assessments.
Baghaei added that issuing visas for the national team and technical staff is an obligation of host countries under FIFA regulations.
