An average of 600 trucks carrying humanitarian aid enter the Gaza Strip daily from Israeli territory, IDF spokesperson Major David Baruch told Azerbaijani journalists visiting the country as part of a media tour, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Israel reports.
According to him, the Israeli side facilitates the delivery of food, clothing, medicine, and other humanitarian aid to Gaza.
“One of our commitments under the 20-point plan is to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. On average, we facilitate the entry of 600 trucks into Gaza each day. In the past year alone, 2 million tons of humanitarian aid have entered Gaza,” David Baruch said.
According to the IDF spokesperson, the increase in the volume of humanitarian aid has also affected the prices of food and other products in Gaza.
“Prices have fallen by more than 70%, even close to 80%,” he noted.
Major David Baruch also said that the number of hospital beds in Gaza has increased by 50% over the past year.
“There are currently 50% more hospital beds in Gaza than there were a year ago. We also allow people who need to travel to other countries via Israel for medical reasons to leave,” he added.
The IDF representative claimed that Hamas is still operating in Gaza and is trying to rebuild its armed forces.
According to him, the Israeli side is currently waiting for the implementation of the next stage of the 20-point plan — the demilitarization of Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas.
“Once this happens, the reconstruction process will begin,” Major David Baruch emphasized.
