Negotiations are the only way to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons in the future, said Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, during today’s emergency meeting regarding the situation in Iran following U.S. strikes, APA reports.
According to him, buildings where uranium was being processed were damaged during the U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facility in Isfahan: “During the U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facility in Isfahan, buildings — including those where uranium was processed — were damaged. The IAEA has also recorded impact craters at the facility in Iran’s Fordow region, but the extent of the damage cannot be assessed,” he said.
Grossi emphasized that Iran must inform the IAEA about the transfer of fuel from nuclear facilities.
“Iran must notify the IAEA about any transfer of fuel from nuclear facilities to other locations within the country,” the IAEA chief noted.
He added that negotiations remain the only way to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons in the future: “Military escalation is dangerous.”
