The US must fulfill its commitments under the Islamabad agreement, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said during a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani today, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.
During the meeting, Ghalibaf touched upon the US violation of its commitments during the implementation of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. He said the Trump administration is making wrong decisions based on incorrect information.
Ghalibaf noted that such miscalculations endanger not only the US’s financial, military and human resources, but also the future of the region, target the interests of the Iranian people and lead to long-term instability in the region: “The plan to economically besiege Iran will also fail. The Iranian people will reclaim their rights with dignity. The US must fulfill the conditions it undertook under the Islamabad agreement.”
The Qatari Prime Minister, meanwhile, welcomed the agreement reached between Iran and Oman on the Strait of Hormuz. He said the ongoing diplomatic process could help restore stability in the region.
The Qatari Prime Minister emphasized that his country would continue its efforts to advance solutions aimed at restoring stability in the region.
