A total of 139 inmates sentenced to death have been pardoned in Iran, Ali-Asghar Jahangir, spokesperson for Iran’s judiciary, said, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
He said the pardons were granted with the approval of the Supreme Leader.
The judiciary spokesperson stressed that there were no complaints against these individuals and that they had no history of security-related crimes. He added that the pardoned inmates had expressed remorse for their actions.
