Arab League condemns deadly bombing in Beirut

Baku-APA. The Arab League (AL) condemned Friday a car bombing earlier in the day that killed at least eight people and injured over 85 others in Lebanese capital Beirut.

In a statement, Nabil al-Arabi, secretary general of the pan- Arab body, condemned the terrorist bombing targeting the chief of Information Department of Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces, Wissam al-Hassan.

"There are hands of evil trying to tamper with the security and stability of Lebanon, pushing the country toward security slides and political divisions amid the Syrian crisis and the tense situation in the region," al-Arabi said, calling for all the political leaders of Lebanon to show restraint, and work together to capture the assailants.

He also extended his condolences to the relatives of the victims of the bombing as well as to the Lebanese government and its people.

Earlier, a car bomb went off outside a residential building near Sassin square in Ashrafieh district in Beirut, leaving eight people killed, including Wissam al-Hassan, and injuring more than 85 others.
