Baku-APA. Taliban militants, armed with RPGs and heavy machineguns, have attacked a hotel at a popular recreation area near Kabul’s Qargha Lake and have engaged in a firefight with the police inside the building, APA reports quoting Reuters.
"Insurgents armed with RPG rockets and heavy and light weapons are inside the Spozhmai Hotel and fighting with security forces. We don’t know their numbers and if there have been casualties," Mohammad Zahir, the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Kabul police, was quoted as saying, Reuters reported.
The hotel is frequented by wealthy Afghans and foreigners.
Insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of about 130,000 US-led forces in the war-torn country.
