Baku-APA. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Miqati said Friday "no sanctions are being violated" in a clear reference to the sanctions against Syria and Iran, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The remarks of the prime minister at the Arab Economic Forum came against the backdrop of a report by The Wall Street Journal saying Washington has concerns that Syria, Iran and Hizbullah have been using Lebanese banks to evade international sanctions and fund activities.

Lebanon’s Central Bank governor Riyad Salameh denied on April 29 that Syrian nationals were smuggling money to Lebanon, rejecting claims about money laundering in Lebanese banks.

Back at the meeting, the prime minister said "I hope that all sides would keep the banking sector away from the political disputes because this field is very important to Lebanon’s economy and it serves as the country’s backbone."
