IAEA Iran report propaganda, not truth

Baku-APA. The International Atomic Energy Agency’s recent report on Iran’s nuclear program has broken “all precedence” in partiality and subjectivity, APA reports quoting Press TV.

The IAEA only took into consideration the identical narratives dictated to it by Israel, the UK and the United States, Jeff Steinberg said in an exclusive interview with Press TV.

“But remember that these member countries in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq in 2003 said all kinds of disinformation and … the whole thing was a complete fabrication,” Steinberg added.

"We are in a period where war propaganda has replaced the truth and the IAEA report itself is a good example of that. It’s breaking new ground in terms of manipulation of the IAEA by certain leading member states that have had Iran in their crosshairs for some time."

In its November 8 report, the IAEA accused Tehran of activities aimed at developing nuclear weapons before 2003 and speculated that these activities “may still be ongoing”.

Iran, however, rejected the IAEA report as “unbalanced, unprofessional and prepared with political motivation and under political pressure mostly by the United States.”

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program and have used this pretext to push for the imposition of sanctions on Iran as well as to call for an attack on the country.

Iran maintains that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, it has every right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities, but has never found any evidence indicating that Iran’s civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
