Teenager killed in attacks on policemen in Bahrain: authorities

Baku-APA. Bahrain security authorities Saturday said that a teenager was killed amid attacks against policemen earlier in the day in Juffair, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier Tariq Al Hassan said at a press conference that Ali Yousuf Hassan, 16 died when he was caught between a police patrol jeep and a house wall in Juffair.

"The police patrol was attacked by large number of people in possession of iron bars and Molotov cocktails," he said.

The driver of the vehicle tried to move away from the area, but the mob threw stones and iron bars on it and because of the poured oil on the street, the driver lost control of his car which skidded," he added.

The official said as a result the jeep crashed into a house wall where one of the rioters was caught between the car and the wall and died of his injuries.

"A police man was also injured by the crowd and is now hospitalized," he said.

Brigadier Al Hassan said they have a comprehensive security plan to deal with increasing illegal protests in different parts of the country.

"The Ministry of the Interior will not hesitate to protect national security, stability and safety of the citizens and residents as well as public and private property. And to achieve this, it is following an integrated security plan being implemented by all the security bodies."

"We call again on parents and political associations and all concerned civil society institutions to protect their children from being involved in these dangerous and irresponsible acts of violence," he added.
