Baku-APA. Clashes erupted when the security forces fired live bullets into the air and tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden on Saturday, local security official told Xinhua, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The gunshots and clashes occurred as the military patrols tried to break through the main roads which have been blocked for more than a month and a half in some districts in Aden by the protesters, however, the latter tried to prevent the move by throwing stones on the army forces," the official said on condition of anonymity.

Protesters burnt tires in main streets and blocked the roads with cement barricades.

No casualties were reported, he added. Meanwhile, the army forces failed to end disobedience in a number of districts in Aden after the separatist Southern Movement called on the citizens to stop paying the electricity and water bills taxes, the official said.
