Baku – APA. Hundreds of pro-reform protesters and government supporters staged rival rallies Friday in Jordan’s capital, Amman, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.
Police separated the rival groups, as anti-government protesters, including members of “March 24 Youth” and Islamists, chanted for reform outside the capital’s municipal offices. No injuries were reported.
One week ago, one person was killed and more than 100 were injured in stone-throwing clashes between rival groups and security forces.
Last month, several hundred Jordanians rallied for sweeping economic and political reforms. An opposition coalition has planned weekly protests on Fridays.
King Abdullah II has not been directly targeted, but protesters are calling for the dissolution of parliament and the firing of Prime Minister Marouf al-Bakhit.
