Baku-APA. Engineers have resumed work at the Fukushima No.3 reactor, a day after they were forced out by a plume of black smoke. However, two workers have been hurt, after their feet came into contact with radioactive material, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Officials say the pair have been hospitalized, but were only exposed to radiation levels below the maximum safe limit. It brings the total number of people injured trying to bring the plant under control to more than two dozen.

Meanwhile, concern has spread to Europe, where officials in Iceland say they’ve detected trace amounts of radioactive iodine in the air. But they’re stressing there is no health risk. Japan’s National Police Agency says the death toll from the earthquake and tsunami stands at 9,700, while 16,500 people remain unaccounted for.
