Baku-APA. A bus traveling in the business district of Manila, Philippines, exploded Tuesday, killing at least four people and wounding more than a dozen, police said, APA reports quoting upi.com website.
Philippine President Benigno Aquino III said terrorists could be behind the blast in Manila’s Makati City, but didn’t name a group he thought could be responsible pending an investigation, GMANews.TV reported.
"Let’s look at the evidence first before passing judgment. I don’t want to libel anybody," Aquino said. "I have my suspicions but I could not engage in speculations."
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said officials at the scene said the bomb "was some sort of explosive device placed in the vicinity of the middle of the bus."
Metro Manila police chief Nicanor Bartolome said the force of the blast blew out a portion of the windshield and ripped a hole on the side of the bus, ABS-CBNNews.com reported.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino said a portion of the roadway through the business center would be closed during the investigation.
