Baku-APA. Egypt on Saturday criticized the U.S. envoy George Mitchell’s inefficient efforts over the Israeli-Palestinian proximity talks and said negotiations are going nowhere, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit told a pan-Arab daily that Mitchell’s approach to the Israeli-Palestinian indirect talks could last 10 years before yielding any result and added that no progress had been reached so far.

"Mitchell’s way of dealing with the conflict often achieves success, yet many times it comes after half a decade, or a decade," Abul-Gheit said.

"These talks so far yielded nothing...and there are fewer and fewer chances," the Egyptian minister said.

This comments contrasted those given on Friday by U.S. officials, saying talks had made significant progress.

Mitchell mediated the last four rounds of the proximity talks between Israel and Palestine.
