Baku – APA. A Palestinian court in Gaza has extended the detention of a British journalist arrested on suspicion of collaborating with Israel’s security forces, APA reports quoting ABC News.
Paul Martin was arrested on February 14 and has been held on unspecified security charges.
He is the first foreigner arrested in Gaza since Hamas seized power there in 2007.
He was arrested in a court room where he had given evidence for a friend who was accused of collaborating with Israel.
His lawyer says Gaza’s central military court has extended his detention by another 15 days so investigations into the charges can be completed.
Human rights groups have criticised both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority for detaining journalists and restricting media freedoms.
