Azerbaijani tourism has developed rapidly at present. Tourism will take place in non-energy sector after several yearsâ€, Abulfas Garayev, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister told journalists, APA reports.
“For the first time Baku will be the capital of Islamic Culture. Various international events are going to be realized within the framework of the project. I regard 2009 as successful year and it will contribute to the developments in the field of cultureâ€, he added.
The Minister underlined that an official website would provide reports about events on Baku - Islamic Cultural Capital 2009 in Azerbaijani, Russian, English, French, Arabic from January 1. An opening ceremony of Baku - Islamic Cultural Capital 2009 will be held in Heydar Aliyev Palace on February 18-19, 2009. The concert will be performed for representatives of various countries during two-day inauguration ceremony.
