Baku-APA. US military strikes against sites in Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen are not part of the broader conflict in that country, Department of Defense spokesperson Peter Cook said in a press briefing on Thursday, APA reports quyoting Sputnik.
Overnight, the US military struck three sites on Yemen’s Red Sea Coast in response to recent missile launches that threatened US ships.
"These strikes were a response to a threat to our vessels and to freedom of navigation… these strikes are not connected to the broader conflict in Yemen," Cook stated.
