The United List coalition of Arab political parties in Israel has expressed its readiness to cooperate with opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot, who has been tasked with forming a new government, said the coalition's leader, Yousef Jabareen, Al Jazeera reports.

"We held informal consultations and heard positive views from Eisenkot's representatives regarding issues concerning the Arab population. We will cooperate with him, but we will not join the government," Jabareen stated.

According to him, the support of Arab lawmakers is important in preventing Benjamin Netanyahu from returning to the post of prime minister.

Jabareen emphasized that Israel is going through a historic period that could create opportunities for significant political changes.

"Without coordination with the United List, it will be difficult for Eisenkot to implement his program in the Knesset," he noted.

It should be recalled that Arab parties won a total of 19 seats in the parliamentary elections held on October 27. Of these, 11 belong to the United List and 8 to the Ra'am party.

On November 8, Israeli President Isaac Herzog gave Eisenkot the mandate to form a new government. The politician initially has 28 days to secure the support of a parliamentary majority.
