US President Donald Trump has stated in an interview with CNN that he considers the resumption of large-scale military operations against Iran highly unlikely.
However, he revealed that Washington has already identified targets for possible strikes.
According to the White House leader, the situation will depend on whether Tehran signs a strong agreement with the United States.
Trump also emphasized that the US could take tough military action if Iran refuses to reach an agreement.
"I would if necessary, but we hit them really hard. I hit them so hard. You don’t know how hard I hit them," he said.
The US President stated that three American aircraft carriers are deployed in the Middle East and are fully prepared for combat.
"We’re ready for it. I’ve got three aircraft carriers here. The other one just arrived. We have three. They’re fully locked and loaded," Trump noted.
He also revealed that Iranian infrastructure facilities could be targeted during possible military operations.
"We have 38 bridges in our sight that we can knock down in literally one hour," the US leader stated.
However, Trump emphasized that he does not want to destroy Iran's civilian infrastructure.
"I don’t want to do that because essentially, it’ll take 10 years to rebuild them. I don’t like ripping down bridges. And the hardest thing to build is a bridge. It takes years, and I’m a good builder," he added.
During the interview, Trump also claimed that Iran's military production capabilities had been significantly weakened following previous US strikes.
According to him, Tehran has managed to retain approximately 10% of its missile production capacity and 15% of its drone production capabilities.
"The only thing they can do is about 10% level — make some missiles and make some drones. Drones at about 15% because much of their factories are gone," Trump stated.
The US President said that Iran is interested in reaching an agreement with Washington and expressed hope that there would be no need to resume military operations.
