No political bloc has secured a decisive victory in New Zealand's parliamentary elections, the Associated Press reports.

According to preliminary election results, the center-right coalition led by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has gained a narrow majority in parliament.

According to preliminary calculations, the ruling National Party won 42 seats, while its coalition partners ACT and New Zealand First secured 13 and 12 seats, respectively. Thus, the ruling coalition has obtained 67 seats in the 131-seat parliament.

The main opposition Labour Party won 36 seats, the Green Party secured 16 seats, and the Māori Party obtained 5 seats.

However, approximately 400,000 special votes have yet to be counted. These include votes cast by citizens living abroad.

According to the Electoral Commission, the final results will be announced on November 27.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stated that the ruling coalition still has an opportunity to form a government again. Meanwhile, Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins has not conceded defeat pending the announcement of the final results.

Depending on the election results, new coalition negotiations are expected to take place in the country.
