The suspension of contacts between Iran and the United States through mediators is related to the results of the US midterm elections, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told the country's state broadcaster.
"For several days now, mediators have not made visits due to the election results. It will take some time for favorable conditions to emerge for the resumption of contacts," the minister noted.
Araghchi had previously stated that Iran's two-day proposal submitted to the United States regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remained in effect.
He called on Washington to meet Tehran's demands, including the condition of ending the war on all fronts, warning that otherwise the military confrontation could continue.
