Former Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kılıç has described the unity demonstrated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Shusha as an important symbol of Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood, Turkish media reports.
A report published in the media stated that the meeting of the two countries' leaders in Shusha on November 8, Victory Day, once again demonstrated the significance of the "One nation, two states" principle.
"This historic meeting shows that the concept of 'One nation, two states' is not merely an expression, but an unshakable unity of hearts and destinies," the report emphasized.
It was noted that during a joint press conference, the leaders highlighted the importance of strategic partnership, mutual trust, and solidarity between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
Ilham Aliyev stated that Türkiye's political and moral support for Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War would never be forgotten. Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that the Garabagh Victory was a shared source of pride not only for Azerbaijan but for the entire Turkic world.
"The two Presidents holding hands and raising them together became the most meaningful image of the message of unity delivered from Shusha to the world," the article noted.
The report also recalled Hulusi Kılıç's contributions to the development of political, diplomatic, cultural, and public relations between the two countries during his tenure as ambassador to Azerbaijan.
It was stated that cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan is of great importance not only in terms of bilateral relations but also for strengthening integration within the Organization of Turkic States.
"The common determination demonstrated by the two Presidents in Shusha is of historic importance not only for Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations but also for cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States and across the broader Turkic world," the report emphasized.
The article also addressed issues related to ensuring lasting peace in the South Caucasus, strengthening regional stability, and expanding cooperation in transport, energy, trade, and other areas.
"The message of unity emerging from Shusha went down in history as a powerful expression of the confidence with which Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood will be carried into the future," the report stated.
